City Hall #2

Decided to settle with the lovely little maze of bushes yesterday.  Was going to add in a bench but didn't have time! I would have like to add more details, but was rushed because the light went out.  Gotta start painting earlier!

City Hall

Checked out the City Hall courtyard yesterday afternoon and did a quicki hour painting in the dwindling light.  Managed to catch the lovely pale yellow light on the left side before it was all gone.  I sadly dropped this painting on the ground while packing, hence the dust particles :/

I usually edit my paintings slightly on Photoshop with levels to adjust the darks and lights, but I think for this one, I like the no edit one better.  Posted both just for fun!

Here's the original with no edit whatsoever.  I think I still like this one best.

Here, I just tweaked the levels on photoshop a bit to bring out the darks and lights.  

Quicki Study

Went out with some friends in Old Town, Pasadena and did a quick 40 minute study of a church near city hall because we were short on time! Gotta figure out how to effectively capture details next time.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Studies

On the way to Hong Kong, I watched Grand Budapest Hotel and absolutely loved it! I loved the set design and color especially, so I did some film studies on the plane to pass time.  Also decided to do a film/ color study two nights ago! I think it turned out more detail than I wanted it- I was really going for a loose, painterly look. Planning to do more color studies of the film later!

Hello all!

Sorry for the lack of posting for these past few weeks! I have recently come back from an amazing trip from China with my family, where we visited Hong Kong, Kunming, and Hangzhou.  We saw and learned about some fascinating cultural gems about each city, including visiting some renowned sites such as the Jade Dragon Snow Mountains in Lijiang and Yellow Mountains in Hangzhou!

I tried to paint and draw as much as I could, although the first half was hard because we were part of a tour, so I could barely find time.  I'll post some digital sketches I did for now, and my paintings/ drawings up later ( because I don't like them!)
